Thoughts Whilst Packing...
Do you start telling a story with what you were wearing?
How funny is it that we worry so much about what to pack or what to wear, when a story never starts with what colour vest we had on or the matching set you were wearing at the time. The story always starts with the crazy adventure, the incredible view, the people you were with or the funny stories that took place. So why is choosing what to take the hardest decision ever?
Our clothes are so important to our identity in our self expression so really it’s no surprise that we worry about what we’re going to wear. And I’m not saying it’s good to judge a book by its cover but it’s true that it does happen and this is your way of deciding how your book is going to be judged. I think maybe that’s why leading up to this three month trip it feels so vital to choose the right clothes. You want to express yourself but you want to be comfy you wanna wear those bright colours but is that practical? The advice is to wear merino wool or cotton but my funky jacket isn’t made of that.
The reality is no matter what you take or how prepared you are you never really gonna know what you want until you put in the situation you didn’t expect to be in. So I think you should probably just stop overthinking and procrastinating by writing blog posts and start packing. There is only one week left to go after all.
